His professional career is mainly linked to the field of fitness in sports and wellness centers (10 years), as an expert in personal training and various disciplines of collective fitness. He currently teaches at the University of Granada (since 2017-present). He has carried out research stays in countries such as Ecuador (2014-2016), Chile (2014) or New Zealand (2015). His main areas of interest are: The evaluation of physical condition, the practice of physical activity and, in general, healthy habits in the young and adult population.
In his last years as a researcher he has focused on analyzing the relationship of active travel to school with various variables related to the health of children and adolescents. In addition, he has a special interest in the application of different intervention programs in search of change of habits in the population, from programs to promote physical activity in the school environment, to programs of physical exercise in healthy or sick subjects.
Graduated in History from the University of Salamanca, he received a doctorate in Ancient History from the University of Navarra. He completed his postgraduate studies at the German universities in Cologne. Professor of Social Sciences Didactics since April 27, 2019. He has been visiting professor at the universities of Milan (Italy), North Carolina at Chapel Hill (United States) and California Berkeley (United States). Likewise, he has coordinated an Erasmus program, then within the Socrates framework, between 1991 and 1997, with the universities of Mainz, Wolverhampton, Siena, Tours and the Complutense University of Madrid. He has directed several research projects as principal investigator. He has published or edited 10 books. It has about sixty publications in scientific journals, book chapters, conference proceedings and other types of scientific media, both national and international, in the field of the History of Rome, concentrating its attention on the study of the Roman leading groups (senators and knights) and to the administration and government of the Roman Empire.
